Evaluation Q2

My magazine Through The Lens contains many conventional features of a cinema/film magazine cover. In the centre of the page is the main protagonist and actor Felix Wilding. He is the centre of attention, however he is not in the foreground but placed with details both behind and in-front of him to give the cover lots of depth. The main part of the title LENS has been rendered in the 3D software Cinema4D, the outcome of this can be seem in my earlier posts. I was then able to edit this text to give it an orange glow which matches the theme of the rest of the cover. In reflection, I would have liked to have used more of the cold blue tones from my trailer and implemented them into the magazine cover. Though there is happiness to be found in this film, on the cover it should portray more of an upsetting theme. Therefore the use of a blue colour may have been better as it has connotations of sadness. The photo used is of the main character in an urban environment behind the scenes, the other character in the film can be seen in the foreground.

My magazine cover also features a the date and issue number, a reasonable price and barcode which would be found on other individually sold magazines.

Finding a Distribution Company

A successful distribution company is one which can maximise the views a trailer/film gets from members of it's target audience. This however does not come cheap and most distributors are expensive! This has lead to the development of an underground independent film culture, necessary for the survival of indie films. This culture did not go un-noticed, big name such as Warner Bros and Fox soon branched out and now have their own Independent film distributing sub-companies. For my film I decided on the company Fox Searchlight Pictures, they have distributed films such as Birdman and 12 Years a Slave. Fox Searchlight distribute a large amount of films within social realism genre. A genre which I personally am a fan of and one which my film is suited to.
